Time Flies

It is month eight of our first year here at the Lumberjack Feud, and I can hardly believe it’s real. The days seem to go on forever, but the opportunity is so worth it. I have seen such changes in this short period and I am proud of all my staff. I am thrilled to be doing shows with the great athletes we have here. They are without question, the strongest in the world. We are gaining recognition throughout the media but are most proud that STIHL has chosen us for their Championship event June 1st to 3rd. We have also been chosen to be a...

Summer is upon us

The summer is sneaking up on us, so I decided to sneak away with my fiancé to our Florida fish camp for a weekend. Funny how a three day vacation turns into three days of boat washing and cleaning the cottage. Sitting by the Gulf and the sunsets were great, even with the work. I am in shows all weekend while some of the young guns will be at Bristol Motor Speedway showing off.  I am excited to be returning to the ax-tion! I don’t mind mixing it up with the young’uns! It will be my first night working with our new Ranger Black....

Real Life, Real Family Experiences

Where did February go!  We were thinking about taking time off to ski and fish, spend time up north in front of the fire.  Not! My team is motivated to bring the Lumberjack Feud to the top of the Genuine Family Experience here in Pigeon Forge. The employees at the Feud believe in this goal, we want to change how you spend your chosen night out, we want to reflect real life. I am proud of our employees, they took this time when tourism was slow and focused on you, yes YOU!  They built, rehearsed, discussed and focused on YOU. The result is...

What if?

Lumberjack Fans, This past Friday the Lumberjacks needed me to be in the show, the same day I turned I turned 53.  Yes, half century plus three.  Competing in shows is getting more intimidating every year that passes, you see I won my last world title 15 years ago.  I retired at 40 but continued to do some exhibitions over the past two decades.  But now the other men on the competition dock are all half my age.  If I was 20 and they were all 10 that would be good news, but I’m not and they are all very fit and hungry athletes in their...

Getting back in the swing of things!

I dropped off the face of the planet!  Not really, just got my butt handed to me when we opened our doors at the Feud.  As CEO I am so entrenched in daily operations. I am cook, bottle washer, handy man, usher and lumberjack.   I am thrilled that we accomplished getting this attraction open and are seeing thousands of fans showing up.   Competing in this show is like being in a world final every night. We have so much to be thankful for as a professional lumberjacks. Best wood, best trees to climb, best sound and light and, the most...

Training My Son at Speed Climbing

July 9, 2011 – I have to take minute today to post to my blog as so much is happening.  Last week I loaded the ESPN production semi-truck and trailer in Wisconsin.  My son of 16 years joined me and we spent a few days at the hunting lodge cutting trails and mowing fields.  We dropped some massive antlers from last year’s hunt off at the taxidermy shop.  He worked the skid steer and chainsaw for the first time and is a pro. We arrived back in TN just in time to begin training, as a 3 time world champions speed climber I offered to...
